Audience: High School educators, especially relevant to Career Technical Education (CTE) and Future Farmers of America (FFA) teachers.

Location: Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center near Burns, OR

Description: Teachers are invited to  participate in this workshop exploring the ecosystems of the great northern basin through; a one-day field tour with scientists who will highlight their local regional ecological research and a second day to review relevant resources and discussion of how to make connections to the classroom, including guides that explore green careers.

For teachers who are working on their Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) licensure requirements for the CTE Natural Resource / Forestry Endorsement, participation within the OFRI / ONREP / TVCC (Treasure Valley Community College) tour qualifies for business and industry hours that are required by TSPC and the licensure process.  Additionally, the workshop qualifies for Professional Development Units (PDU) that are required for TSPC licensure renewal.  If you have any questions on CTE licensure or PDU hours reach out to .

Lodging reimbursement

If you are 50 miles away or more from Burns, OFRI will reimburse your district or agency (OFRI cannot reimburse individuals) the state government rate of $98  (plus tax) for lodging for the nights of June 20 and 21, 2023. Participants are in charge of making their own reservations (Lodging & Travel QuickLink Category | Harney County Chamber of Commerce (chambermaster.com)).  When making lodging reservations, please look for or ask for the government rate.

Mileage reimbursement:

Mileage to and from Burns may also be reimbursable if needed.

Closer to the workshop (after initial registration) participants will receive a more comprehensive email that will include information about meals, the reimbursement process,  a draft agenda, and other details.  

Registration required. Offered at no cost to Oregon educators. PDUs available. Substitute reimbursement offered on teacher workdays.
