Time: 8:30-4:00
Audience: K-8 educators, formal and non-formal
Curriculum: Project Learning Tree and Project WILD
Description: Getting students outside to learn about nature can be as close as a school ground or a neighborhood park. We will explore activities from Project Learning Tree and Project WILD that increase the awareness and understanding of the environment through hands-on, interactive experiences that help students put learning into context. The PLT and Project Wild Activity Guides were developed to meet state and national standards (CCSS, NGSS and OELP) providing the tools educators need to bring the environment into their classrooms and their students into the environment. This workshop will also give you a chance to collaborate with other teachers and meet with guest presenters who are valuable local resources. Through hands-on, interdisciplinary activities, PLT/WILD helps young people learn how to think and to develop a personal, direct and life-long relationship with nature and the outdoors.
