Description In today's evolving landscape of education, workforce needs, and diverse career pathways, many young people are curious about opportunities in the outdoors—ranging from education and recreation to natural resource management, science, and beyond.

Outdoor education experiences, including Outdoor School and other environmental education programs are great places for teens to learn about unique careers in the outdoors, explore their career interests, and develop valuable skills for a variety of jobs.

This workshop will explore how educators can help high school students discover outdoor careers and education options while turning programs and classes into rich learning environments for building employability skills and experience.

Through interactive activities, resource exploration, and guided discussions, participants will gain confidence and practical strategies for supporting students as they navigate the wide array of outdoor career opportunities.

We will utilize (and participants will receive) several resources, including Project Learning Tree’s Green Jobs Curriculum, the OSU Outdoor School Career Skills Reflection Guide, and  OFRI’s Find Your Path Forest Career.

Considerations: This workshop includes some outside activities in varying weather conditions.

Stipend: A $100 stipend is available from OSU Extension Service Outdoor School to support the attendance of eligible outdoor school educators who are not being compensated by their employer for the time they attend the workshop. Please contact lauren.rodgers@oregonstate.edu with questions about stipend eligibility.
