Meet the Staff

LeeAnn Mikkelson

LeeAnn enjoys being a facilitator of the learning process through instructional design and flow. She has been guiding people in the outdoors for over 30 years, from oceans and caves to forests and streams, throughout the United States. She is responsible for organizational management and governance, strategic leadership, and building statewide collaborative partnerships. Hiking, running, gardening, and dreaming with family and friends keep her busy when she's not working. She has been with ONREP since March 2005.

Yasmeen Hossain
Program Coordinator

Yasmeen’s passion for environmental education was awakened when she realized it combined her 20-year experience in the environmental sustainability field with her fondness for teaching. She earned an interdisciplinary PhD in Sustainable Development at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Environment & Development, and a BA in Environmental Studies from Alliant International University.

In her role as the Oregon Natural Resources Program Coordinator Yasmeen is responsible for training, coaching, and coordinating a cadre of facilitators that deliver relevant, high quality, natural resources professional development throughout the state. Hugging trees, volunteering for animal rescue groups, and visiting tropical places are some of her favorite ways to spend time outside of work.

Julie Van Hoosen
ONREP Office Specialist

Julie enjoys working with a program that is dedicated to natural resources education. She is committed to providing support to the ONREP team and Oregon educators. Her attention to marketing, communication, invoices, registrations - and so much more - ensure that all aspects of the program run smoothly. She has been a part of OSU since 2003 and joined ONREP in 2016. After work you will find Julie outside in her garden, BAREFOOT.

The following staff have ONREP responsibility within two program areas:

Kristi Backe
