Description: Exploration, Inquiry, and Experiential Learning on the New HJ Andrews Experimental Forest Discovery Trail. Discover the Project Learning Tree (PLT) guide through the senses of the Discovery Trail at HJ Andrews Forest. Learn how to apply Next Generation Science Standards to PLT Activities. The Discovery Trail is a new exciting field trip. At this workshop you will be able to check it out to see if you want to bring you class here to experience this old growth trail. The primary objective for the Discovery Trail is to engage students in learning about ecosystem science, while guiding them to reflect upon their relationships with places and personal responsibility for stewardship behavior. The curriculum, delivered via iPads, covers several Next Generation Science Standards cross-cutting concepts like cause and effect, systems, stability and change, and patterns. Come experience it with us and go through some PLT activities that will help you prepare your students for the great field trip. Dress for a walk in the woods! PDUs and substitute reimbursement availalbe.

This workshop is offered at no cost to Oregon educators.  Guides, curriculum, and resources are offered at no cost to educators that attend the entire workshop. Substitute reimbursement is available on teacher work days, for educators that attend the entire workshop.
