Bend: Making Outdoor School an Integral Part of the Learning Progression
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Audience: Limited to 5th or 6th grade Oregon teachers whose students will attend Outdoor School next year.
Curriculum: Project Learning Tree and Project WILD
Are you a fifth or sixth grade teacher whose students will attend Outdoor School next year? Would you like to strengthen the concepts your students learn at Outdoor School? Here’s a free workshop for you! Learn methods and strategies to enhance and extend students’ Outdoor School experiences. Participants will come away with the content knowledge, skills, and materials needed to develop and use natural-resources-based lessons that are aligned with Outdoor School curricula, state standards, and statewide environmental literacy programs. The lessons can be used in the field or the classroom, before or after the students attend Outdoor School. This workshop is designed for fith and sixth grade teachers whose students attend Outdoor School. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the High Desert Museum in Bend and lunch is provided. This workshop is provided at no cost to Oregon educators. One credit from Southern Oregon University is available at additional cost.
This workshop is grant funded and specifically designed for 5th and 6th grade classroom teachers who will take their students to Outdoor School in the 2017-18 school year. You will be asked to confirm that you are a 5th or 6th grade classroom teacher.
