Meet the Staff

LeeAnn Mikkelson

LeeAnn enjoys being a facilitator of the learning process through instructional design and flow. She has been guiding people in the outdoors for over 30 years, from oceans and caves to forests and streams, throughout the United States. She is responsible for organizational management and governance, strategic leadership, and building statewide collaborative partnerships. Hiking, running, gardening, and dreaming with family and friends keep her busy when she's not working. She has been with ONREP since March 2005.

Julie Van Hoosen
ONREP Office Specialist

Julie enjoys working with a program that is dedicated to natural resources education. She is committed to providing support to the ONREP team and Oregon educators. Her attention to marketing, communication, invoices, registrations - and so much more - ensure that all aspects of the program run smoothly. She has been a part of OSU since 2003 and joined ONREP in 2016. After work you will find Julie outside in her garden, BAREFOOT.

Emma Van Order
ONREP Student Worker

Emma Van Order has worked with ONREP since March 2017, and is currently finishing her bachelors in human development at Oregon State University before pursuing her MBA. She maintains ONREP’s list serv, assists with pre- and post-workshop processing, tracks guide inventory and provides office support. Her favorite part of working for ONREP is the people she gets to work with. Fun Fact: you will find Emma dressed up, most likely as Princess Leia, at Star Wars midnight movie premieres.

Susan Sahnow
Former ONREP Director

Susan joined ONREP and 2002 and retired in 2019. We wish her well as she moves into a new adventure spending time with family and friends, hiking, and eating lots of dark chocolate! Her work in environmental and outdoor education spans 30 years and includes work with youth, educators, natural resource professionals, and volunteers. She is passionate about deepening the connection of people to place, especially the outdoors, through engaging educational programming- and ONREP will tap into her expertise often.

The following staff have ONREP responsibility within two program areas:

Jenna Mendenhall
Oregon Environmental Literacy Project Coordinator

Jenna has always had a passion for nature and working with people. Her job includes collaborating, communicating, and supporting partners and stakeholders on projects that support implementation of the Environmental Literacy Plan. She also delivers professional development to equip educators in building the next generation of environmental stewards. In addition to her roles with OELP and ONREP, Jenna is the Board Treasurer for the Environmental Education Association of Oregon. Jenna enjoys going on adventures with her son and husband, as well as paper crafting. She has been part of the ONREP team since 2010 and the OELP team since 2016. Jenna works with the Oregon Environmental Literacy Program but works closely with our team, so we've included her here!
